Hi-Sky is a private field-operations application for logging and hauling companies. The app is built and operated by Clearly Digital ("we", "us") and provided to companies ("your employer") for use by their workers and authorized guests. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and how it is handled.
Hi-Sky is a workplace tool. You sign in with an account issued by your employer. There is no public sign-up, no advertising, and no sale of personal information.
Who is responsible for your data
Clearly Digital operates the Hi-Sky platform (the app, servers, and sync) on behalf of the company that issued your account. Your employer decides who may use the app and controls the operational records created in it. We operate the infrastructure that stores and moves that data securely.
What we collect
We collect only what the app needs to do its job:
- Account information you or your employer provide: your name, email address, job title, role, and the company you belong to.
- Location information: your device's GPS position. Location is used to show your position on offline maps and, while you are on shift, to support crew safety and fleet coordination. Location can be recorded in the background while you are on shift so that tracks and positions are not lost when you are out of signal. You control location through your device permissions.
- Photos and documents you attach in the app: photo evidence on safety forms, equipment defect photos, certificate images, and documents you submit.
- Work records you create: safety forms, inspections, time and work entries, messages to your crew, and similar operational content.
- Device and technical information needed to deliver the service: a device push-notification token (so you can receive alerts) and a user identifier for your account.
We do not collect data for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or companies.
Why we collect it and how we use it
We use the information solely to provide the field-operations service to your employer, including: safety and compliance record-keeping, offline mapping and positioning, fleet and equipment tracking, crew coordination and messaging, time and work tracking, and sending you operational alerts and reminders. Safety and compliance records may be retained as part of your employer's audit and regulatory obligations (for example, WorkSafeBC and COR requirements).
How information is shared
- With your employer. The company that issued your account can see the operational records created under it, consistent with their role and your position.
- With infrastructure providers (sub-processors) who help us run the app, strictly to deliver the service: application hosting, push-notification delivery (Apple and Google notification services), and transactional email delivery. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms.
- When required by law, or to protect safety, rights, or property.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Location, specifically
Location is central to the app's safety and fleet features. It is collected only when the app has your permission, is tied to your account so your employer can coordinate the crew and fleet, and is used only for the app's own functions. It is never used to build advertising profiles or shared with third parties for their own purposes. You can turn location off in your device settings at any time, though some features will not work without it.
Data retention
We keep information for as long as your account is active and as long as needed to provide the service. Safety, inspection, and compliance records may be retained longer where your employer or the law requires it for audit and regulatory purposes. When data is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymized.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by role, and the app is designed to work offline and sync securely when a connection is available. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Your choices and rights
Because Hi-Sky is a workplace tool, your employer administers most account and data matters. To access, correct, or delete your information, contact your employer's administrator, or contact us using the details below and we will work with your employer to respond consistent with applicable law (including Canada's PIPEDA and provincial privacy legislation).
Children
Hi-Sky is a business tool for workers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority in their province of residence.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date at the top of this page.
